Well where i work we have tested several and we use Dell and have very minor issues with ours. Of course your going to get Dell haters as much as any others. My opinion is to get an extended warranty with ANY laptop as i have worked on tons and it seems they brake right after the warranty on 1 whole year. So when you do decide take the warranty to at least 3.

If you are looking for a really quality laptop — always go for the toughest of them all — the Panasonic Toughbook.

Honestly, you should check these guys out:

I have been a customer of his for going on 2 years… I like to tinker with different brands of laptops and see what they offer. Anyhow, they sell their stuff for cheap and from what I have gathered they get in all business grade laptops. That means the laptops go through more rigorous testing than the average laptop you buy at best buy or walmart. Anyhow, they look to be around 2 years old and if you watch you can pick up one with a great warranty from the mfg attached. I got a Dell from them and it had the complete care warranty left for several months. So I bought a Dell that was damaged from these guys, then had dell fix the entire thing for free! I got it for a great price, it paid for itself with the warranty
Well.. anyhow, they have Dell, HP, Apple.. IBM.. you name it they have it.
Best of luck
