How do you delete the entries that come up in the search engine bar?
July 24, 2008 on 2:24 am | By advertising | In search engine |My google search engine bar and my address bar save everything I type into them (search terms and web addresses) so that if I type something beginning with the same letter again, the old ones pop up.
This can be convenient, but some of them contain typos, or are old, or are personal, etc….
So how can I delete them, and stop the computer doing this?
Thanks so much for any advice - this has been irritating me for so long!! ;~)

Hmm….you did not say which browser you are using.
In Internet Explorer go to Tools / Internet Options and under the "browsing histor" section click "delete"
When prompted, select "delete all".
Done.

Not sure about the google search bar but for your address bar, if you have explorer, click Tools >> Internet Options >> Clear History. If that doesn't do it, go through the same thing and instead of Clear History click on Delete Files.

Not sure which browser you're using but in Firefox you just go to tools - clear private data and check "Saved form and Search history."

You have to delete all the history. Go to Tools, then scroll down to internet options, then hit delete under browsing history.

Ctrl-H should bring up the History thing.
All the other answers nailed it, sorta.
In most all browsers you can adjust or select the number of days to keep files in the history folder. By default this is normally set at 20 days.
I have found that 3 days is more than enough. By setting the History Files to be kept for 3 days then purged by the system will help increase performance and reduce clutter.
On most browsers the history folder is found in C: Programs/<name of browser>/user/usr. But check at the makers browser site to be certain of these and do it correctly.
If using IE6/7
