If all Christmas is is shopping for you then maybe you need to just not celebrate it > shrug it is your choice. I however do not believe the gov has the power to "cancel" Christmas so in answer to the question .. no it hasn't worked. We did not spend stupid amounts of money this year but my children are smiling, we ate well, and we will see our extended family and exchange gifts. We even got a impromptu recorder and violin concert of Merry Christmas from the kids. So sa far.. It has been a wonderful Christmas.

The advertising did not fly.
Why? More money was doled out to Obamas campaign than what the storeowners can shell out collectively for the public to buy their wares.
As for cancelling next years |Christmas, speak for yourself. |I dont think that idea will fly either. As long as there are children, and there is religion, there will be christmas because there will be hope, faith and charity.
