Lets say you advertised an item on your website and you got a response from a customer?

then you realized that the price you quoted for the item was a mistake, its about 10 dollars less than what you wanted to charge. Do you feel obligated for the sake of good customer service to honor the quoted price or do you tell the customer that it was a mistake and you cant give them that price. Just curious what everyone thinks about what customer service is or isn't.

  1. Fix your site immediately! And give the customer the price you had up there — that's the right thing to do.

  2. I agree with the other responses that you MUST honour the price.

    $10 is not very much to lose in the long run, and you will just make the customer angry by arguing over such a trivial amount! Give them good customer service and they will come back - argue about $10 when you are in the wrong anyway (your mistake) and they will never return and will probably complain about you to others!

    Where this rule would not apply would be in a case where you put a decimal point in the wrong place or something - say something was supposed to be $1000 and you accidentally put it as $10.00 (where it's an obvious mistake) i probably wouldn't accept the sale and would explain. But arguing with a customer over $10 is crazy!
