  2. Hi,

First use a free keyword suggestion tool like wordtracker or Google’s keyword tool.

Go through the list of keywords and search for each one using quote marks either side of the phrase. If the number of results coming back from a we search is less than say 50,000 then those phrases are worth going for as there is less competition. They are long tail keywords.

Then write content for your site based on the keywords.

Then go and get backlinks from other sites to your webpages.

The link below goes to an article that explains this really well and simply. Much better than I can explain here.

  4. There are a lot of little things that need to be done for great listings within Google. None of us, other than the folks at Google truly know what the exact algorithm is that Google is using.

Linking (quality linking) is definitely a piece of the puzzle. Quality is better than quantity. Linking can be established by article submissions, Internet Press release, blogs. Stay away from reciprocal linking, this is an old school tactic that is no longer favored by Google.

You also will need to consider your on page optimization are you or do you have:

    xml sitemap
    robots.txt
    customer error 404 pg
    code bloat
H1 header tags that are keyword rich
alternate image tags that are keyword rich
title tags that are keyword rich
meta descriptions specific to the content of each page
    duplicate content
    canonicalization

These are all pieces of puzzle that should be addressed. Type in Internet Marketing company and see who comes up first and give them a call. If they can get to the top of page one they can probably help you out as well.

  6. I’ve recently signed up for a 7 days SEO course to recognize and avoid the most common mistakes in SEO. Looks like they - just as most of the guys out there - aim for Google. So I’d recommend that for you, too.

Other than that, these are some of the tools I use for SEO (in no particular order; and certainly not all of them at once :-)

    Google Analytics
    Google Webmaster Tools
    Google AdWords Keyword Tool
    XML Sitemap generator (http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/)
    Domain Lookup (http://www.iwebtool.com/domain_lookup)
    Seo Scores (http://www.seoscores.com/)
    Seo Site Checkup (http://www.seositecheckup.com/)
    Website Grader (http://website.grader.com/)
    URL Trends (https://www.urltrends.com/)

Also, a website should make use of social networking stuff (Flickr, Facebook, YouTube, Tweeter…)
… and a BLOG (fresh content is important)

    Hope this helps.
