Do you mean like in the 1800’s when we had children working in coal mines, company stores, and 16 hour work days? That free market?

Yes, free markets gave us slavery for nearly 250 years.
Oh wait, that wasn’t very humane at all, was it?

Name me one, just one, totally free market system. Hint: You won;t be able to.

Sure if you live by the Law Of The Jungle and believe that business should be Might Makes Right.

really?
What makes it more humane than a regulated market where it is illegal for a company to poison milk with melamine and sell it to you to feed to your kids before getting them off to school?

That’s one viewpoint. I don’t think the children who used to labor for 13 hours a day in mills under the unregulated "free market" would agree with you.

bullshit, i could come up with a better way in a single day if given the flaws.

If you call robbery humane.

You are correct. The free market will move people to become more efficient and less wasteful.
If everyone would pay for their health care, the costs would not skyrocket. We would question everything done to us. No more $10 Aspirin.

its true, but sometimes trade barriers are necessary to protect fragile or new industries. The barriers might not be as good for the economy at the time, but in the long run, they can help. I’m usually for unrestricted free trade though.

Well, what do you know about that!
Hay Liberal loons, the key word is ‘efficient’ as in no Government intervention!
What a CONCEPT!
Wow, didn’t take the Loons long to jump-all-over this one!

Yes, I do. Free markets would increase the welfare of everyone. A prime example is that cutting back on our agricultural subsidies that promote large agribusinesses would increase the wealth of 3rd farmers, not actually increase their poverty.
One of the reasons healthcare is expensive is because of external forces, such as crony capitalism that is allowed to take place in Washington at the expense of the people by weakening the competitive free market forces.
To the poster above: Deregulation does not equal free markets. That is a logical deficiency. Our financial system is one of the most regulated industries and it still is.

Yes.. a truly free market is the most equitable and orderly system.

Remember the Irish Potato Famine?
"…the indisputable fact that huge quantities of food were exported from Ireland to England throughout the period when the people of Ireland were dying of starvation."
How lovely and efficient THAT was!
