Is it legal to advertise an item at a certain price that is not even available?
December 28, 2009 on 6:09 am | By advertising | In advertising |I went to a certain store on Black Friday and ordered an appliance. The salesman asked me when I wanted the appliance delievered. I asked him when can I get it, he responded with tomorrow. I did not want the item delivered that Saturday, as I wouldn’t be home and asked for it to be delivered the following Saturday. I receieved a phone call on Thursday saying the appliance was on back order and should be in the following Thursday. Being that I work full time and have a small child, I asked for the appliance to be delievered on Saturday. Unfortunately the item was still on back-order, and is now still on back order almost a month later. I still do not have my appliance. I called the store yesterday and the salesman said that when they sold the item to me I was told it would be on back-order for three weeks. I was definately told that, otherwise I would have opted for a different appliance. I don’t understand how a company can advertise (AND SELL) something that is unavailable and have no idea when it will be available. Is this legal? I am so frustrated.
By the way it is beyond three weeks anyway.
