How can I create a search engine box for my website?

February 1, 2010 on 5:09 am | By advertising | In search engine |

I want to create a search engine box on my website that ONLY searches my website. Heres the deal I am creating a car dealership website and I am going to have cars up there and I want to be able to search the database of cars through the search engine box that will be found on my page. Can anyone please tell me how to do this? I have been searching around everywhere trying to find the information but I cant find exactly what I am looking for. Thanks!
I saw the google thing but its not quiet what I am looking for. I would like just a simple search box that searches within my webpages.

  1. If you already have a text page for each car or have information about that car on a webpage, you could use Google to search your site, you’ll need to look @ this: http://www.askdavetaylor.com/how_can_i_add_a_google_search_box_to_my_web_site.html

If you instead want to pull up a specific car without using Google, you’re going to need to do some server side programming to search the database.

  2. Google has a search engine box you can use. I have it on my website, http://www.ferchproperties.com. I can’t remember where I got it, but I probably googled it…ironically enough. I do remember, however, that it gave me the option of just searching my website or http://www. Hope this helps.
