Is This How Google Search Engine Works?

March 9, 2010 on 3:16 am | By advertising | In search engine | 3 Comments

For instance…If I was to have a website entitled "www.houseman.com"..thus it was
getting mecca results…you know, bucket loads of views…Now with this at hand, If I
was to type in "House" Would my site be one of the first results? Is it therefor explained that
keywords are based on hits…Ie; Considering a website has the word "House" within it’s structure and is getting as many hits and views as facebook..it’ll be within the first page of results whilst typing in "House" on Google search, correct??

(Oh, I know that this question sounds silly..though just would like to know whether I am getting at the right idea here! :D)

Many thanks!

Take care all!!

- Josh
Thanks for the answers so far…As I’ve perceived it so; I can garner that it isn’t entirely based on the domain name…whence nuances of subtext genre’s help vastly!

Cheers!

SEO for my home page - Confused?

March 8, 2010 on 9:28 am | By advertising | In search engine | 3 Comments

My provider have given me a list of 20 keywords that are most searched for relating to my product. They said include this in the meta tag on each of my pages. Im a little confused…I know I need to optimise my page for maybe 2-3 keyword or keyword phrases, but if I have 20 keywords, can I include the full 20 in my metatag on the home page, and then just use 2-3 out of this list to optimise my home page for?

Any then for the other pages on my website..pageA, b and C etc..Do I copy the same 20 keywords into the metatags, but then choose totally seperate keywords from that list in order to optimise the next particular page depending on what my page is actually about.

I look forward to your advice, many thanks in advance
Hi John, thanks for your advice. I dont have a specialised SEO offering from them, its more of an advice following their analysis. Before going back and asking I thought I would see what advice I could get from here. I heard about the lack of keyword metatag use by the search engines as I have been researching heavily on SEO. Just hoping now I can boost my position. Cheers

Why Do Liberals Think That the Stock Market Has Had a Negative Rate of Return Over Any 40 Year Period?

March 8, 2010 on 9:28 am | By advertising | In marketing | 14 Comments

Social Security provides a 0% real rate of return. I want a Liberal to show me one 40-year period where the S&P 500 rate of return was less than 0%.
I don’t know anyone who’s career is 10 years.
Colbert Nation,

Look at the idiot above you–Oil Man.

For those of you who don’t have basic math skills, you’d still have more than double the money with every boom and bust over any 40-year period.

Why are my search engine links redirecting me to unrelated websites?

March 8, 2010 on 9:28 am | By advertising | In search engine | 2 Comments

Recently, whenever I use a search engine such as Google, Yahoo, etc., the links I click on take me to a completely different, unrelated website. (For instance, the other day I was searching for a hotel, clicked on a link for a hotel website and was redirected to an article about birth control) This has only occured in the last few weeks. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?
My computer was recently infected with Anti-Virus Soft, one of the fake anti-virus malware programs you are referring to. I seem to have gotten rid of it; the only problem I am still having is the search engine. I will run another scan with MalwareBytes and hopefully that will solve the problem.

March 8, 2010 on 9:28 am | By advertising | In search engine | 3 Comments

I made a personal website that has files of mine available to download on it, and the domain/hosting is by GoDaddy.com, how can I stop Google and other search engines from indexing my site and files? Is there a way? Thanks.
